Adding Headings

In Fireside you can insert headings into your content on your website. These help visually break up different sections of content, but semantically they tell the browser the structure of your document.

That semantic structure needs to follow certain rules however to ensure it is accessible for disabled people. You should never used a heading 1 in the content. Each page can have exactly one Heading 1, and that already exists programmatically on each page.

Additionally, don’t skip levels of headings. For example, you can use an Heading 2, and then have a subheading of heading 3, but you can’t skip directly to heading 4 and omit a heading 3.

Following these simple rules will ensure that your content stays accessible and is properly structured.
