How to Add a Photo Caption

First, follow the steps here to insert the photo.

Once you have the photo inserted, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the center of the photo so it’s selected (highlighted - will be blue in color).

  2. Then press the right arrow key on your keyboard. Your cursor will be positioned between the photo and the table that surrounds it.

  3. Press "Enter" on your keyboard to begin a new line.

  4. Type your caption.

  5. You might have to go in and add line breaks. You can also select the text and make it smaller.

If centering your caption adds extra, unwanted white space to the top and bottom of your photo, follow the steps below.

    1. Follow steps 1-3 above.

    2. Click the Insert Table button in the text editor (it looks like a calendar), and make a table that is 1 x 2 (one column, two rows). The top will be where you paste the picture. The bottom is where you'll type the caption.

    3. After you paste the picture, put your cursor above the picture and press backspace to get rid of the space that appears between the outer table and the inner table that surrounds the picture.

    4. You can re-size the picture as usual.

    5. To center the image, select the dotted lines that appear just outside of it and then click the center button. Note: If you just get extra space inside the table, that’s because you have the photo, rather than the table around it, selected. In that case, press Ctrl+Z to undo, and try again!

    6. If you select the whole outer table and click the left align button, you can text-wrap the photo.

    OR

    1. Go to the image editor to insert the photo.

    2. In the image editor, select your image, and include the title.

    3. Select the size of the photo.

    4. Select "Insert."

    5. Erase the title.

    6. Add caption.
