Fields - FS Guide

  • Fields are the fundamental unit within Fireside for storing profile data. There are several types of fields which have different purposes when storing data:

    • Yes/No: Data has a yes or no response (i.e., Optin)..

    • Date/Time: Responses that are a date and time (i.e., DOB).

    • Email: Non-primary email address information for storage purposes only. (Primary email field already exists in your system).

    • Number: Responses that are a specific number (i.e., 1, 46, etc.).

    • Phone: A phone number that is not Home, Business, or Other (these already exist in your system).

    • Multi-Select: A response where the constituent can select multiple answers from a list. This field type is often used for maintaining press list data.

    • Single-Select: A response where the constituent can only select one answer from a list (i.e., true/false/don’t know, support/oppose/not sure, "choose one of the following").

    • Text: Open-ended response in which any text can be entered.

  • You can modify fields in this section and create new fields as needed. Name your fields clearly so that it is easy to recall their purpose. It is also wise to include date info in your field names to provide further context for future Fireside users. For example, “ConstituentIssuesOfInterestJanuary2021” would be a good multi-select field name for storing constituent responses from a January 2021 survey on issues important to them.
