FAQ Newsletter Questions

How can I edit my templates?

Only Fireside can edits templates. Please let us know what edits you’d like done in chat or email to help@fireside21.com. Any examples are much appreciated.

Can I clone my newsletter?

Yes. However, cloning newsletters should only be done if you're looking to send that exact newsletter but to a different audience. Cloning a previously sent message should not be used to create a new newsletter as constantly cloning a past message is going to introduce errors.

How can I get more templates?

You can send a request for new templates in chat or an email to help@fireside21.com. Again, any examples that we can share with our web team is much appreciated.

Can I stop a newsletter from sending after I click “Send?”

No, once a newsletter starts sending, there is not a way to stop it. To minimize any potential issues, we recommend sending yourself test newsletters before sending it to an audience.

Also, there is an option to “Send Later,” so you have a chance to stop a newsletter from publishing on the scheduled date and time.

If I checked the box for “Published to web,” what page will it appear on?

It will appear on the /news/email page on your website.

Example: joecongressman.house.gov/news/email

How can I edit a newsletter that is published on my website?

Websites only feature published newsletters, so you will have to edit the newsletter, publish it again, and un-publish the original message.

Will my colleagues automatically receive a published newsletter?

Yes, any staffer in your office with an active Fireside account will receive a published message in Fireside. This way, you do not have to worry about adding them to audiences.

How do I set the default options for a component? (Examples: always setting image + caption to text on the right or changing the color or styling of the header component)

Our web team can complete this task for you! Please let us know of the request either in chat or an email to help@fireside21.com

Why does my form survey look different in Outlook?

Outlook supports it in a degraded manner so you’ll see [ ] instead of round radio buttons for each question.

How come the from name for my newsletters appears to be different in my Outlook than what’s shown in Fireside?

Fireside sends an alias to use as the from name for all recipients based on what you set on the properties tab. However, if you are within the same Microsoft Exchange email server, then the Exchange server is set to ignore any aliases for an email address and instead use what is set within the Active Directory. This means that if you’re sending an email from RepJohnSmith@mail.house.gov with the name Rep. John Smith and then in your first.last@mail.house.gov account you see Congressman Jonathan Smith, this is because in the Active Directory for the @mail.house.gov exchange server, that email address is set with the name of Congressman Jonathan Smith and that overrides anything else. You can update the name by contacting your IT services provider to have them update the Active Directory record, but this only applies for email addresses using @mail.house.gov. Any external email addresses not within the same exchange server will see what you set in Fireside, for example a @gmail.com email address.
