Creating and Sending Newsletter Messages

Start a New Message

  1. Go to Outreach > Messages

  2. Click the blue plus button in the top right hand corner to start a new message

  3. Pick the template that you'd like to use for the look and feel of the newsletter

Edit the Message

  1. There will be several components underneath the “Build” tab. To add these components to your Newsletter, drag and drop them where you’d like them to appear.

  2. Once you’ve dropped your component, a Details tab will open on the left. This will give you the option to configure your component.

Newsletter Detail

In the "Newsletter Details" section in the right hand sidebar, you can update the following: From Name, From Address (must be a real @mail.house.gov email address), and Subject Line. You can also tag your Newsletter with Issue and Bill codes.

Sending a Test

If you wish to send a test of your Newsletter, navigate to the “Send Test” tab (to the right of the Edit tab). A box will populate prompting you to enter the email address you wish to send the test to. You may enter multiple email address if you wish. Once the emails have been entered, select the blue Send button in the bottom right.

Sending a Newsletter

For a Newsletter to be sent, it must first be in Approved status. You can change the status of the Newsletter by clicking on the blue box in the upper right corner.

You’ll know your Newsletter has been approved, because the red dot next to the blue box will turn green and the status will read “Approved”. The blue box will then turn to “Send”.

There are two options to send your letter

1. Send - will send the newsletter immediately

2. Send Later - schedule the newsletter for a date and time of your choosing. All times are in Eastern Standard Time.

After selecting send, you will need to select the audience you wish to send the letter

You will have the option to send the Newsletter to multiple audiences if you wish.
